Hawaiian Landscapes

January is a wonderful time to go to Hawaii. It's usually cold and rainy in L.A., and Hawaii is usually very warm and temperate in contrast. My beautiful girlfriend, Leanna, and I had the pleasure of staying with some good friends who live in Honolulu and took in some of what this amazing island has to offer. We hiked in the rainforests, jumped into deep pools over waterfalls, hung out in Waikiki, and marveled at the big surf and countryside of the fabled North Shore. I took all these images with my new Canon G10, which handled like a champ. I focused mostly on landscapes while we were there, I hope you enjoy!

So, I recently stumbled across a new style of photography that has only recently come onto the scene. It's called HDR (High Dynamic Range) and I think it's the future of imagery. It works especially well with landscapes and objects. I've done few with people, but people tend to move- so it is easier to do with static subjects. The idea- is that you don't lose any of the highlights or shadows that you normally lose with a single image. I won't bore you with all the details...but there is a lot to it! Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think =)
I shot all these photos on Sunday the 21st of December- that's right, winter solstice. My beautiful girlfriend and I had a fabulous day of day tripping around Los Angeles. We started at the Santa Monica Pier, then headed to Marina Del Rey. We were then quickly off to Downtown LA and finally stopped at the Griffith Observatory to add the final touches on our day.
